Formulation of the problem. The tariff policy in our state determines the conduct of research, innovative developments in the field of energy efficient construction. The highest degree of energy efficiency is realized in the concept of "passive house". The advantages of a passive house and a cost comparison with a conventional cottage open up the concept of passive construction with a rational price-performance ratio in design and construction.
The purpose of the article is the necessary study of reinforced thermal insulation for the functioning of a passive house − the most important requirement. Heat loss is a critical component of the energy balance and should not be neglected. Results. A comparative analysis of external structures was carried out to determine the standard characteristics of a passive house. Thermal calculations of walls and roofs were performed to check thermal protection. The findings showed that thermal insulation is an important aspect in the design and construction of a passive house, the structures must meet high thermal resistance requirements. An important factor is the continuity of the thermal insulation layer to achieve the tightness of the house. Just a 20 % increase in the cost of building a passive house compared to a cottage provides many benefits and savings in the future. Scientific novelty and practical significance. After reviewing the German experience and considering the issue of energy conservation in Ukraine, we can conclude that such construction should gain momentum and be popular in our country. With the help of the analysis and the collected data, it is possible to clearly show that energy-efficient solutions should be implemented in every construction, to solve an urgent issue and for the further development and implementation of effective architectural solutions.
